Sten Berglund

Baltic Peoples in Transformation

The Infrastructure Project on is a collaboration project between Professor Sten Berglund and Professor Richard Rose of the Centre for the Study of Public Policy (CSPP) of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. The project will be responsible for organising a Baltic public opinion survey in 2003/2004 and possible follow-up surveys in 2004/2005 in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The project will use specially designed IST (Information Science Technology) to give scholars, students, policymakers, media and the general public open and instant online access to a unique data base monitoring how peoples in the Baltic states have responded to the transformation of their societies. The distinctive features of this database include New Baltic Barometer sample surveys (early 1990s-2005) of political attitudes and socio-economic conditions of all major Baltic nationalities: Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians and ethnic Russians in the three states.
