A colouring book about archaeology
We will create a colouring book to illustrate new trends in archaeological theory and method. We are going to use an established genre which is easily understood by children and adults alike. The project brings together a professional graphic artist with a prominent archaeologist who will together produce an easily accessible colouring book about the most recent developments in archaeological theory and method. In recent years, the subject of archaeology has gone through a fast development, and Swedish archaeologists have proactively taken part in this process. Because non-academic expertise is of particular importance in communication with children, non-fiction literature and other forms of scientific outreach for children do often not reflect the most recent developments in academic theory and new applications of established methods. The project aims to remedy this situation.
Final report
We carried out the project according to our plan and are very happy with the result!
Unfortunatel the projec took longer than planned but is as good as finished now. One particular challenge which is still not entirely solved concerned the translation to Chinese and Arabic. Although we got the text translated we underestimated our ability to use the translations without appropriate language skills ourselves. We will try to get this sorted in the near future.
