RJ Arts and Culture finances podcast series The Last Pill
The podcast series "The Last Pill" by Tredje Statsmakten is one of the projects funded under the RJ Art and Culture initiative. Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (RJ) has supported seven organizations with a total of 60 million SEK to create new productions based on research.
With RJ Art and Culture, RJ aims to make research in the humanities and social sciences accessible to a broader audience.
RJ's primary mission is to support research in these fields, but the foundation has also long worked to disseminate research findings to society. Research in the humanities and social sciences is essential for addressing major societal issues and challenges, providing in-depth knowledge about humans as cultural and social beings.
By investing in art and culture, RJ can reach a wider audience across diverse interests and age groups. The cultural sector has a unique ability to spread knowledge and engage a broad audience in innovative and thought-provoking ways. RJ funds projects in areas such as museums, theater, and opera, as well as podcast and game production.
The podcast is a documentary series exploring our understanding of depression and anxiety. The research behind the podcast includes Tomas Furmark’s project The Chemistry of Shyness: Serotonin-Dopamine Interactions in Social Anxiety and Kerstin Sandell’s project After the Success of the New Generation of Antidepressants: Experiences, Practices, Discourses, and the Self’s Transformation, which also incorporates Shai Mulinari’s research on pharmaceutical companies’ marketing strategies.
"The Last Pill" premieres on November 20. The series will be freely available on all platforms and consists of eight episodes.
