Research on Research Ethics

Research on Research Ethics is a joint funding initiative by the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and the Swedish Research Council. The call aims to strengthen Swedish research on ethical issues in research, particularly within the humanities and social sciences, though it is open to all academic fields. The initiative responds to an identified need for deeper knowledge about the principles, frameworks, and practices that shape the legitimacy and societal role of research.

The goal is to encourage high-quality research that contributes both empirical insights and conceptual development in the field of research ethics. Relevant areas may include good research practice, peer review systems, publishing patterns, access to data, the function of researchers as experts, and the interpretation and application of ethical frameworks. The call invites projects that critically examine how ethical standards are formulated, understood, and applied in the research community.

The funders aim to foster critical reflection and knowledge development around the ethical foundations of contemporary and future research practices.
